Jefferson Elementary School held the annual Family Math Night in January 2016. An SEF-funded program that has been ongoing since 1990, the Family Math program engages parents and students in a variety of hands-on, collaborative mathematics activities designed to support important math concepts and promote a love of math. Jefferson math teachers Randi Katz and Kris Robbins enjoyed an evening where parents and their 3rd graders had the opportunity to work together on solving challenging math problems. Mrs. Katz said about the program, “They learned to work together as a team and that sometimes you have to try new strategies until you find one that works.” Family Math Nights will be held for 3rd graders at every elementary school during the school year. Watch for it at your school!
