• SEF has supported Family Science Night at the five elementary schools since 1990. In the program, second grade students and their families are invited to a series of evening sessions designed to provide hands-on, activity-oriented, problem solving situations to be experienced as a team. Teachers lead the workshops in order to promote the importance of the home-school connection in the development and retention of science skills.
Brayton School held the Family Science Night in February 2016. The theme was: "Ask. Imagine. Plan. Create. Improve." Second-grade students designed tables from newspapers; many creative designs were successful in holding a stack of books. Said one parent, "Family Science night was great fun! I enjoyed watching the collaboration and team effort among the students! Thanks to the teachers for a wonderful program.”
