• SEF awarded a grant in 2015 to Franklin School for “BeeBots”, and they have been in use ever since! In Spring of 2016, the first grade learned to code with BeeBots during library class. Then in December 2016, these basic robots were used during the Hour of Code with the first and second graders as a "kick off" to the new BeeBots Club.

The club ran during lunch/recess for second graders once a week for 8 weeks in 2017, with 19 second grade participants.

Students practice basic commands and then write programs to move the BeeBot. Working cooperatively with a partner, these young learners develop problem solving skills including the use of sequencing and estimation. The program has been a great success! Thanks especially to Franklin librarian Loreli Stochaj who spearheaded the program.
